RECALL NOTICES

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announces the following recalls in voluntary cooperation with the firms below. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can obtain recall information at www.cpsc.gov.

Adventure Playsets Wooden Swing Sets.  Sold at Wal-Mart, Menards and Toys "R" Us from February through March 2006. 

Hazard:  Defective bolts could cause the swing set frame to detach from the fort structure, posing a fall hazard to the user.

LP and Convertible Gas Water Heater Temperature Controls.Manufacturer: White-Rodgers, a division of Emerson Electric Co., of St. Louis, Mo.

Hazard: The gas water heater controls can gradually open instead of snapping open to full flow, which can cause soot to build up on the water heater burner, presenting a fire hazard.

Propane Infrared (Tank Top) Heaters sold by DESA Heating Products & Scheu Manufacturing Co. All PRO, Reddy Heater, and MASTER Brands.

Hazard: The plastic ring on the heater regulator can crack. If it cracks, and someone turns on the propane tank and the heater regulator, LP gas can leak around this ring. If the user then tries to light the heater, this leaking gas can ignite causing a minor flare-up.

Stop using the heater immediately and return it to the location where you purchased it. You may call DESA at 866/279-3255 or visit their website at www.desatech.com.

DESA Heating Products "Vanguard" and/or "FMI" compact fireplaces.

Hazard: The burner tube connections to the gas valve can leak when the main burner of the fireplace is on.

Consumers should stop using these fireplaces and contact the retailer to schedule a free repair. Contact DESA at 866-279-3225 or www.desatech.com.

International Comfort Products LLC, of Lewisburg, Tennessee has recalled about 28,700 gas furnace and AC units.

Hazard:  The unit's control board can ignite and, in certain units, can result in the ignition of flammable material adjacent tothe unit.

The units were sold by heating, ventilation, and air conditioning dealers and contractos nationwide between October 2000 and September 2005.  Consumers with recalled units will receive a free replacement control board and capacitor installed.

Robertshaw Control Co. is recalling 178,000 r110 series gas control valves.

Hazard:  Screws on some water heater valves could break, which could cause a gas leak from the valve. The r-110 valves were installed on LP-gas water heaters. Water heaters sold or serviced prior to July 25, 2005 are not affected by this recall. Consumers who may have an affected water heater can visit www.robertshaw.com or call 888-225-1071 ( CPSC recall 05-274).

A.O. Smith recalls 5000 units of the 75- gallon propane water heater.

Hazard: The water heater can accumulate soot on the burners, possibly a fire hazard. The heaters have the name A.O. Smith, Reliance, State or Maytag on the side of the unit. The heaters were installed nationwide between January 04 and July 05. Contact the company for serial #'s at 866-880-4661.

The Brinkmann Corp. is recalling 130,000 gas grills with regulators made by the Zhongshan GDA Gas Valve Co.

Hazard: These regulators could leak gas when attached to certain propane tanks. Consumers with these grills and GDA regulator on them can contact Brinkman to receive a free repair kit or replacement hose assembly. The company can be contacted at 800-675-5301 or www.brinkman.net. GE Consumer and Industrial, of Louisville, Kentucky is recalling about 6,600 gas ranges.

Hazard:  A design flaw may cause an electrical arc between the wiring and adjacent gas supply tubes at two locations in the control housing of the range, posing a fire hazard.  Consumers should stop using the unit and call the recall hotline at 866/696-7583.  Information is also included in the Recall Information Page at http://GEAppliances.com.
