ENTER OUR PHOTO CONTEST FOR A CHANCE TO WIN A FREE HOME ENERGY AUDIT!
We invite all cooperative members to enter their best photographs in The Energy Cooperative’s photo contest. Winning entries will be featured in The Energy Cooperative Times Newsletter, on our website and also in our 2013 calendar!
CATEGORIES
There are two entry categories. You may enter up to 3 photographs in either category (total of 6).
- My Cooperative
- What My Cooperative Means to Me
There is no fee to submit entries.
The deadline for entry is April 1, 2012. (Read complete photo contest rules.)
PRIZES
There will be a total of twelve contest winners.
- The twelve winners will each receive a FREE HOME ENERGY AUDIT provided by one The Energy Cooperative’s Energy Advisors.
All photos entered into The Energy Cooperative’s Photo Contest will be used by The Energy Cooperative at their discretion in perpetuity including print and promotional materials and The Energy Cooperative website.
The Energy Cooperative will give proper photo credit whenever a photo is used. Entrants retain ownership and all other rights to future use of their photographs.
ENTRY FORMS
- Photographs must be shot in horizontal/landscape format, not vertical/portrait. Photographers should submit only their best work to be judged.
- The two categories are "My Cooperative," and "What My Cooperative Means to Me." You may interpret these themes however you wish.
- The subject(s) in the photograph must be physically located within territories served by The Energy Cooperative which include the following counties: Delaware, Morrow, Richland, Ashland, Franklin, Licking, Knox, Fairfield, Hocking, Perry, Muskingum, Coshocton, Holmes, Guernsey and Morgan.
- The photo can contain elements of nature, people, animals, buildings, elements of the cooperative, etc.
- Photographs will be judged on originality, technical excellence, artistic merit, and how well they embody the theme of the category entered. All decisions by the judges will be final and binding.
- Color and black/white photos are both accepted.
RULES
- All photographers must be cooperative member-consumers.
- All photographers must complete and sign the TEC Photo Contest Entry Form.pdf
- Photographers under the age of 18 MUST have a parent or guardian sign the TEC Photo Contest Consent Form.pdf
- There is no fee to submit photos.
- Each photographer may submit up to 6 photos – no more than 3 in either category.
- All photos submitted must be high-resolution (300 dpi or higher) jpg or tiff file formats. Each photo file should not exceed 3mb in size.
- The contest will run from January 15, 2012 through April 1, 2012.
- The Energy Cooperative takes no responsibility for hardware/software malfunctions or postal problems that delay a submission.
- Professional photographers (persons earning more than 50 percent of their income from photography) must declare so on the Entry Form & Waiver and include a publication rights release with their photos.
- The Energy Cooperative’s employees, Board of Directors, and their families are not eligible to enter the photo contest.
- Subject Consent - Does your photograph(s) include people that are recognizable? Could they recognize themselves if they viewed the photo? If so, every individual in your photograph(s) needs to provide consent by signing the Consent Form
Digital Alterations: All photographs should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appeared. Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization will be disqualified. Acceptable are adjustments to color, contrast, brightness and sharpness; removal of dust and scratches; cropping; black and white conversions; and use of HDMI (high dynamic range imaging), where multiple exposures of the same scene are combined for a greater tonal range. Not acceptable are photo composites (combination of two or more photos, not of the same scene); the addition, duplication, deletion or moving of objects in the photos; or the use of artistic digital filters and effects. Examples of artistic filters and effects are watercolor, neon glow, posterizing, stained glass, and others which do not show the scene in its natural way.
HOW TO SUBMIT

Burn photo(s) onto a CD. Label CD clearly with your name, contact information, and number of photos on disc.

Electric Outage Reporting
To report an electric outage call 1-888-535-5732 (24-7/365 days) and be prepared to provide your phone number, your account number, the name on the account and the address where service is located. To assist our member services after hours during an electrical outage, we have a feature on our phone system which can identify the caller by a phone number or an account number, and you can phone in an outage from anywhere on any type of phone line. This technology is very quick and efficient in processing the greatest number of calls through our system, as needed when a large outage occurs. Please put a copy of your account number somewhere where it can be easily located to report an outage. Your assistance in reporting an outage can help us restore your power sooner. Thank you!
Important Notice to Gas Members
Title 49, section 192.16(b) of the code of federal regulations requires that all homeowners be notified of their responsibilities with regards to their gas service lines. Here is what you need to know:
• The member is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all gas piping from the gas meter to all gas appliances.
• The member is responsible for the repair/replacement of the gas service line located on the member’s property from the buried curb valve to the inlet of the gas meter.
• Buried gas piping which is not maintained may be subject to the potential hazards of corrosion and leakage.
• For your safety, all buried piping is periodically inspected for leaks. If the buried piping is metallic, it should be periodically inspected for corrosion.
• If an unsafe condition is found, the gas piping will need to be promptly repaired or replaced.
• Before digging near buried gas piping, the piping should be located in advance. Call the Ohio Utilities Protection Service (OUPS) by simply dialing 811 or 1-800-362-2764 at least 48 hours prior to digging. OUPS will notify various utility companies that a locate has been requested.
The Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) requires that a DOT qualified plumbing contractor must be used to repair or replace a member’s buried piping including the gas riser that the meter set is attached to. For further information, please call 1-800-255-6815.

Save the Date for the Annual Meeting
The Energy Cooperative will hold its Annual Meeting, Tuesday May 15, 2012 at C-TEC, 150 Price Road in Newark. Registration begins at 5:00 p.m. The business portion will begin at 6:00 p.m.
Improper Objects on Poles
All utility poles used by The Energy Cooperative are the property of the cooperative. In accordance with the National Electric Safety Code, and for the safety of both our employees and members, we ask that all utility poles remain clear of any form of signage, privately owned security lights, satellite dishes, antennae, wiring, cables, tacks, nails, bolts, or any other structure. Improper objects found attached to cooperative poles will be removed. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
