Engineer

Location: The Energy Cooperative, Hebron Service Center, 120 O'Neil Drive, Hebron, OH 43025
Classification: Exempt Status: This position is not subject to the overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act, as amended.
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Description: Assist in the development of short- and long-range financial, staffing, operations and technical planning for the Cooperative’s gas utility division. Maintain compliance with all applicable DOT, PUCO, OSHA and Cooperative rules, regulations and policies. Keep abreast of current code regulations, legislation and developments in these areas. Ensure all engineering and operations related functions are met in order to provide clean, safe energy service in an economic and efficient manner for the Cooperative’s consumers. Maintain external contact with consumers, contractors, government organizations, and various industry and trade associations. Interface and provide technical support to employees, consumers, the public and regulatory agencies as necessary. Participate in industry meetings, seminars and other community events. Evaluate and make recommendations for modifications to the overall system design to improve operational flexibility and efficiency. Develop conceptual plans, computer aided drawings, recommendations, preliminary schedules, accurate cost estimates, and agreements for proposed new facilities or modifications of existing facilities. Provide project management and construction support for capital projects including responsibility for adherence of safety, schedule, budget, permitting, and compliance requirements. Maintain a thorough understanding of all engineering and operation functions in order to effectively assume certain responsibilities during division supervisors or manager absence. Has a thorough understanding and complies with any collective bargaining agreement in place. Work with manager in the development of capital and operating budgets.
Education: Required
Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field. A minimum of five years diversified work experience in the natural gas industry, supervisory experience preferred. 

Knowledge/
Interpersonal Skills:
Required
Strong computer skills and proficiency in Micro-station, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office products and other technically oriented software. Working knowledge of DOT Pipeline Safety Regulations and related codes, as well as, PUCO and OSHA regulations relating to the gas utility businesses. Thorough understanding of the National Fuel Gas Code and gas measurement standards. Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate information and present oneself confidently and effectively to audiences of all levels. Develop and interpret a variety of business materials to both internal and external sources. 

Other: Requires minimal supervision. Effectively manage and design projects and solve problems with a realistic vision of the end result. Accept responsibility for direction, control, or planning of an activity and performs a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure. Perform well under stress, when confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual situations, or in situations in which working speed or sustained attention are critical aspects of the job. Must be available to work during non-working hours which may include emergencies, weekends and holidays.

Physical Demands for Essential Functions:
Mobility: The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting and/or carrying, twisting/pushing/pulling, kneeling, talking, hearing, visual ability and mental and emotional demands.
Environmental Factors: This position primarily operates out of an office environment where noise levels and temperatures are controlled. However, an individual in this position will be required from time to time to work outdoors to visit construction and job sites which may include exposure to construction hazards, difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions.
Drug Test: An individual in this position is subject to pre-employment physical and substance abuse testing as well as other testing requirements that may be necessary for this position.
